As members of the poly community, what kind of representation would you like to see in books? What combinations? What would you specifically like to be left the heck alone and out of literature?

I personally would love to see all forms of non-monagamy. Even serial monogamy would be could to see, especially if many of them are within the same stories. I actually remember seeing in one of the book series I used to read (The Wheel of Time) a "V" formation poly relationship.
Its interesting to remember how nonchalantly I accepted this. I didn't even recognize at the time that it was totally different from what society dictates as acceptable. It was actually pretty great!
I don't know if we should leave anything out of the literature. Is hiding things ever really a good policy? Even if we don't like a certain formation or topic, etc shouldn't it at least be put into the literature somehow?

I agree that hiding things typically tends to be shady, I've just also had to be somewhat judicious in what I include content-wise with one particular genre I work with just because it's such a small niche there's a real fine line between "OMG don't put that in writing, the mundanes will think that's all this is!" and poking fun at certain unorthodox behaviors.

Is there a particular genre you are looking to write/had in mind?

I'm debating between realistic fiction, sci-fi, light fantasy, or mythic crossed with general romance. I like to be well rounded in what I write, it's just a matter of settling things enough to start a project.

Those all sound like great ideas, and areas to explore poly representation! Like I said before I found it when I was younger in some fantasy books (it was positive representation). I would love to see some sci fi - because I absolutely love it! I always hoped to find some poly representation in Star Wars (cuz I'm a nerd like that ).
